Bastille Day is the 14th July, but in NYC they like to celebrate it the Sunday before hand. So yesterday I ventured into Boerum Hill in Brooklyn for the annual street fair. The highlight being the Pétanque Tournament, with a beach worth of sand dumped on Smith Street and teams fighting it out for top honors.
I have to admit it wasn’t quite as ‘French’ as I’d hoped, there was a distinct lack of berets, baguettes and mustache twirling (and apparently some important soccer game between France & Portugal broke out while I was there which led to it kind of becoming a Portuguese festival).
Vive la France!
